Application: Richard Richards Ethics Scholarship Application
Deadline:  February 28, 2020
Criteria:
-High school senior.
-Official high school transcript including current GPA and ACT scores.
-Verification of high school graduation date by high school administrator. (letter from counselor)
-Letter of recommendation
-Submission of a 500 word ethics essay.  Essay submissions should be double spaced, titled, have your name and high school, and accompany your application.
-Must have plans to attend Weber State University
Award:  $1,000

Junior Boys interested in attending Boy’s State this summer June 10-14th can apply for it now.  Here is some detailed information and a link for the application. You can visit with Mrs. Dangerfield as well.

Cost of Attending Boys State

The cost of attending Boys State is $400, which you should submit no later than May 10, 2019.

Your registration includes the following:

  • Attendance at all five days of Boys State
  • Political Science 2920 University credit (3 semester hours) and all curriculum material (See requirements to receive credit).
  • Materials for activities
  • T-shirt
  • Student residence hall housing
  • All meals (students are encouraged to bring pocket money for any additional snacks)

How to Apply

  1. Fill out your application online.
  2. Sign the application (which will be emailed after you complete it online), have your parent/guardian, school official and interviewing Utah American Legion Post representative sign the application.
  3. Forward the signed application, along with $400, to your local American Legion post, or to:

What is Girls State?

Junior girls, this is for you! This summer, June 3-8th, junior girls from all over Utah will attend Girls State at Weber State University.

Girls State is an opportunity for girls to learn about leadership, citizenship and patriotism.  Selected girls will have the chance to learn about elected office, legislation, public speaking and how government works.  Once girls have completed the week long program, they will have earned three Political Science college credits that will go with them wherever they decide to attend college.  Weber State University will also be awarding scholarships to attend their school.

The cost to attend this event is $400 which includes room and board and all supplies for the week.

More information will be coming your way as January draws closer.  Girls will apply with Mrs. Dangerfield and then interviewed later.
