You Still Have Time to Apply For the FAFSA

Seniors, if you still have not applied for the FAFSA, you still have time to apply.  If you are going to BYU, SLCC, UVU, Tooele Tech, Dixie, USU or Weber, make sure that you get your FAFSA application done.  You will need your 2017 taxes to complete this application.

Every year there are millions of unclaimed dollars in grant money.  Even if you think you may not qualify, this is also how you qualify for workstudy and student loans. If you have questions about applying, please come see me after the break.  School will be back in session on March 25th.

THS Scholarship Alert

Tooele T

The Tooele High Alumni Scholarship Application is now available.  You do NOT have to be a part of the Alumni Foundation to apply for this scholarship.  All THS seniors are eligible.

THS ALUMNI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)
Application: Available from Mrs. Dangerfield in the Counseling Office or it can be downloaded from this link: 2019 Alumni Found. Scholarship
Deadline: April 12, 2019
Criteria:
-Seniors who are graduating from THS in 2019.
-Plan to attend college.
-This scholarship cannot be deferred.
-Application, transcript, and optional additional information.
Award: $1,000 dollars (two awards)

Scholarship Deadlines Coming Up!

I have listed here eight scholarships that are due in a few days.  Three of them are for the Math department at USU, so if you are majoring in math and attending USU next Fall, apply now.  There are also two scholarships, the Jiffy Lube (ages 16-18) and the Google scholarships that (K-12) are not specifically for seniors.  Apply today!

USU: DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS SCHOLARSHIPS–Neville & Annie Hunsaker Scholarship (Seniors)

Criteria:
-Superior high school students who enroll as full-time mathematics or mathematics education majors at USU.
Award: $1,200 (two or more awards)

USU: DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS SCHOLARSHIPS–Joe & Carletta Elich (Seniors)

Criteria:

ALCU YOUTH ACTIVIST SCHOLARSHIP (Senior)

Criteria:
-High school senior planning on attending an accredited college or university
-Must have a 3.0 GPA
-Have proof of strong commitment to civil liberties through some form of activism addressing such issues as equality, racial justice, free speech, religious freedom, tolerance, and privacy.
-U.S. Citizen
-Demonstrate financial need
Award: At least two $1,500 awards

2017 JUMP START FINANCIAL LITERACY SCHOLARSHIP (Seniors)

Criteria:
-Utah high school senior enrolled at an accredited Utah school who has successfully completed or is currently enrolled in the financial literacy course required for graduation.
-Plan to pursue post-secondary education.
-Application process:  Complete a college application, create a 1-2 minute YouTube video answering the following question “How do you plan to pay for college while keeping your debt to a minimum?” , complete scholarship application.
Award:  $1,250 (6 awards)

UTAH JIFFY LUBE TEEN DRIVER ELIGIBILITY SCHOLARSHIP (ages 16-18)

Deadline:  March 18, 2019
Criteria:
-Students, already licensed, between the ages of 16-18.
Students currently attending high school in Utah’s public high schools for the 2018-2019 school year.
-Complete a short application and write a 500 word essay on What Drives You?”.
Award:  $6,500 (two awards), $1,500 (two awards)

DOODLE FOR GOOGLE SCHOLARSHIP (grades K-12)
Application: Doodle for Google Application
Deadline: March 18, 2019
Criteria:
-Artists create their doodles using whatever materials they want.
-Write an artist statement about what you have drawn and how it represents something that inspires you.
-Fill out the required form and sign it.
-High school students will be judged with other students from grades 10-12
-U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident
Award: 53 total prizes. Prizes range from $5,000 up to $30,000

Criteria:
-Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-Intend to pursue a career in nursing/medicine.
-Complete all application form information:  certified high school transcript, essay on why you want to pursue a career in nursing/medicine, a list of nursing/medical related classes you have taken or other nursing/medical related experience you have received, a letter of recommendation.
-Be willing to maintain contact with the Foundation, provide follow-up information and provide a written report on the use of the scholarship funds and progress you have made in advancing your education.

-THS student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-Application, essay on service experiences and why you believe strongly in service, letter of recommendation.
-Be willing to maintain contact with the Foundation, provide follow-up information and provide a written report on the use of the scholarship funds and progress you have made in advancing your education.
Award:  $1,500 (or 3 scholarships at $500 each)
