College Awareness Week and College Application Week

Seniors, College Awareness Week is next week!

Here are a couple of things to remember for the week:

-Monday, October 21st-Weber State University will be visiting at lunch
-Thursday, October 24th-BYU and Southern Utah University will be visiting at lunch

Make sure to listen for the trivia question in the morning and answer it during lunchtime. At the end of each day, winners will be announced and can come to claim their prize in the Counseling Office.

If you happen to find a college logo around the school, bring it to the Counseling Office for a prize.

Utah College Application Week will be the following week and you all will be applying to college. Please remember the following:

-Drivers license
-Social security number
-Form of payment (30-55 dollars for applications fees)

A few schools are offering a fee waiver, Snow, Dixie, SUU and Westminster.

October 29th is our FAFSA Completion Night so if anyone needs helps applying or has questions, please come and finish your application. You do get to enter a scholarship drawing for attending this night.

Sterling Scholar Application Due Tomorrow by Midnight

Here is the info, in case you were unaware or wanted further details:

Sterling Scholars are judged on five criteria: Overall Academics, Category Experiences and Achievements, Leadership, Service, and an Interview. The program covers all high school experiences from 9th-12 grades. You may include events and activities that will occur at any time during your senior year.

You may apply for up to two (2) categories by completing this application form.
Categories are: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, World Languages, Computer Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Business and Marketing, Theater Arts and Debate, Visual Arts, Vocal Performance, Instrumental Music, and Dance.

A minimum composite ACT of 29 required for English, math, science, social science and world languages.
A minimum composite ACT of 27 is required for business, computer tech, family and consumer, trades and technology, dance, instrumental music, theater and debate, visual arts, and vocal performance.
Applications that do not meet the ACT requirements (25 or 26) may be considered under exceptional circumstances.

The Due Date is 11:59:59 p.m. October 16, 2019.

You may only submit once. If you feel that your application is incomplete do not hit submit. Write your answers in a word document for editing then copy them into this form.

Elks Most Valuable Student Award Deadline Coming Up

Seniors, makes sure you are working on the Elks Most Valuable Student Award. This is not a quick and easy application. It will require some time to complete, so do not wait until the last minute. It is important that you are able to display leadership, community service and academic achievement.

*Students must have taken the ACT and must fill out the FAFSA application. There is NO minimum income requirement to apply for this scholarship.

Deadline: November 5, 2019

First Place: Two awards of $50,000
Second Place: Two awards of $40,000
Third Place: Two awards of $30,000
Fourth Place: 14 awards of $20,000
Runners Up: 480 awards of $4,000

Can you imagine getting some of this money for school? If you do not win nationally, you do have the chance to win locally.
